The most reputable world-class experts from the BRICS countries will speak at the International BRICS Spine Summit to be held on 28-29 June at the EOF 2019. Among the speakers are current and former presidents of national and international associations of spinal surgeons – Edson Pudles and Helton Luis Aparecido Defino from Brazil, Kenneth Cheung and Yan Wang from China, Artyom Gushcha from Russia, and Robert Dunn from South Africa.

The scientific programme of the Summit also includes reports of representatives of major military and civilian medical institutions of the BRICS countries. “The EOF is one of the leading international platforms aimed to discuss problems of orthopedics development and, in particular, vertebrology throughout the Eurasian space. Two years ago, a decision was made to use the forum to strengthen integration processes and cooperation of the BRICS countries in spinal surgery, a critically important field of medicine. Our foreign colleagues accepted this idea with great enthusiasm, – says Sergey Kolesov. – For Russian vertebrologists, it is a great honor to be organizers of the BRICS Spine Summit, since the BRICS accounts for more than 40% of the world’s population. This means that we are setting global trends in medical science through exchange of experience and introduction of state-of-the-art technologies in such a vast territory.”

Apart from reports, the Summit programme includes round table meetings and discussions, practical workshops from leading doctors of the BRICS countries, and a display of state-of-the-art technologies. All the leading manufacturers of implants and equipment related to vertebrology will present their innovative solutions at the BRICS Spine Summit in Moscow.

The Summit is primarily intended for spinal surgery experts, however, it will also be of great interest to multi-skilled orthopedic traumatologists, neurologists, and medical rehabilitation experts.

The first International BRICS Spine Summit that was held in Rio de Janeiro in 2017 brought together over 1,000 leading experts from a total of 30 countries, including the BRICS. The Summit turned out to be very popular, and a decision was made to hold it every two years in one of the BRICS countries.
