Nikolay Zagorodny: the EOF 2019 programme covers all of the most acute problems in traumatology, orthopedics and adjacent areas

The complete scientific programme of the Eurasian Orthopedic Forum has been published.

The organizational committee of the Eurasian Orthopedic Forum (EOF) to be held on 28-29 June 2019 in Moscow, has published the full scientific programme. This year the focus is on the introduction of innovative minimally invasive technologies and methods that are most relevant in terms of their economic efficiency. The programme contains 18 blocks: 12 dedicated sections, 5 major congresses of international importance and a unique educational course on foot and ankle surgery. According to the Co-chairman of the EOF Scientific Committee, Director of the Priorov CITO Nikolay Zagorodny, the scientific programme covers all of the most acute problems in traumatology, orthopedics and adjacent areas.

“The EOF is the only large-scale event where issues related to orthopedics and traumatology are discussed from the point of view of different schools in Russia, Europe, Asia, North America, and the Middle East. The forum basing on a multidisciplinary approach to treatment is aimed at an exchange of expertise and acquisition of new knowledge that is intended for practical use”, says Nikolay Zagorodny, Director of the Priorov National Medical Research Center of Traumatology and Orthopedics, Chairman of the Traumatology and Orthopedics Department of the RUDN University, national delegate of Russia in SICOT, Co-chairman of the EOF Scientific Committee, Associate Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Medicine.

Over the two years that have passed since the first forum in 2017, the EOF has become a specialized venue for interaction of experts from all over the world. Three major international organizations have chosen the EOF as a venue for holding their events. These are: AOTrauma Osteosynthesis Association, Biobridge Foundation International Scientific and Practical Platform, and the East-European Sarcoma Group. This year the EOF will host the International Vertebrological BRICS Spine Summit.

Besides, a congress of the Russian Arthroscopic Society, a pharmaceutical congress Pharmacotherapy in Traumatology and Orthopedics and an educational course in surgery of the foot and ankle joint will be held during the EOF. Reports will be presented by the internationally acclaimed surgeons including Pierre Barouk and Samuel Barouk (France), Martin Kirshner (Germany) and Thanos Badekas (Greece).

“The participants in the EOF scientific congresses and sections will be able to see the analysis of clinical cases provided by leading medical institutions of different countries. New technologies that are of utmost utilitarian importance are to be presented; many of these have not been previously made public. Major manufacturers of medical products and equipment will hold master classes dedicated to the latest achievements in traumatology and orthopedics,” says Sergey Mironov, President of the Association of Traumatologists and Orthopedists of Russia, Chief External Expert Orthopedic Traumatologist of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, Co-chairman of the EOF Scientific Committee, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

The EOF sections will present best practices in knee and hip arthroplasty, reconstructive and reparative and plastic surgery, children's traumatology and orthopedics, disaster medicine, treatment of gunshot injuries of the musculoskeletal system, and potential of 3D technologies. Critically important aspects of the multidisciplinary approach will be discussed at the anesthesiology-resuscitation and comprehensive orthopedic rehabilitation sections.

The EOF has been included in the plan of scientific and practical events of the Ministry of Health of Russia for 2019. The process of accreditation of the forum in the system of the continuous medical education (CME) is currently underway.
